1. This program is suitable for Rooting ZenFone 4/5/6 of version 4.x (kitkat) and 5.0 (lollipop) as well as ZenFone 2 (ZE500CL / ZE550ML / ZE551ML).
2. If There is system update, please unroot then apply the update, otherwise it will not boot after the update is complete
3. Install Intel USB Driver and ASUS Driver First

0 How to Root ASUS Zenfone 2 (via CWM)

This is a temporary CWM with the primary purpose of flashing SuperSU onto your Asus Zenfone 2. It doesn't permanently replace recovery.

 

Note: Root with this method will cause OTA Update fail, so before update unroot first via SuperSU>Full Unroot

 

Download:

 Instructions:

1. Unzip the package
2. Copy SuperSU.zip to the base of your SD card
3. Enable USB debugging (Settings > Phone info > Tap build 7x > Back button > Developer options > USB debugging)
4. If you don't already have ADB drivers installed, you may need to download and install them (most PCs have them already, but trying installing these if you're having trouble getting your PC to issue commands to the phone via USB)
5. With your phone on, attach it to PC via USB
6. Run 'cai_dat_CWM.bat' from the CWM package
7. In the black command window that opens, type ACCEPT
8. Type T4
9. Phone will reboot into fastboot and you'll see commands being issued from the PC cmd window copying the temporary recovery
10. You may see some funked up images on your display for a bit. Remove the USB cable and within 30 seconds should then see it booted into CWM
11. Select install update
12. Navigate to SuperSU.zip and install

Download Flashtool :

How to Flash:

1. Download Flashtool and Extract it
2. Download System.img and extract to Flashtool Folder, rename to system.img
3. Connect Zenfone 2 with PC/Laptop (Enable usb debugging and Make sure you have install intel usb driver, you can download here)
4. At Flashtool/fastboot folder press shift+Right Click then Open Command Here
5. Enter this command: fastboot flash system system.img
6. Wait around 10 minutes
7. After Complete Reboot.. and your Zenfone 2 is Rooted.
8. Do Not update SUperSU binary, or your zenfone will bootloop.
